William Southold, CNS National Correspondent and author of the The Southold Report, was named one of the top 100 Enemies of the People according to the newly formed Fake News Watchdog Group commissioned by President Trump and headed by Fox News personality Sean Hannity. Anyone placed on this list has been determined by this group to be a "particularly dangerous menace to society".
The CNS Editorial Board issued the following statement:
“Mr. Southold, a 40 year veteran of the CNS news division, has worked tirelessly during his tenure here, first entering our family as a mail room attendant. From there he worked his way up from copy boy to an early crime reporter to city desk editor and eventually to his wide ranging duties of National Correspondent that he has executed so well for us over the past decade.”
Mr. Southold now joins a list which includes such nationally known journalists as Bob Woodward and David Ignatius, as well as hard working and accomplished journalists perhaps mainly known on a local or statewide level such as Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Bill Nigut and Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Jim Galloway.
Mr. Hannity is also leading his commission in an “historical purge” as he calls it to “set the record straight” by identifying journalists who are no longer with us and remain perhaps a little less heralded, but are nonetheless worthy of recognition for their outstanding work such as 35 year veteran of the Associated Press, Milton Besser.
“No effort will be spared,” Mr. Hannity declared. “We will unmask the Fake Purveyors of the Fake History they have so called ‘recorded’ until our country understands the True History that our amazing President Trump is laying out for the ages to come.”
“To be named by President Trump’s prestigious commission, led by such an outstanding luminary and practitioner of Fake News as Mr. Hannity, is truly humbling. I am honored, as I am sure are my fellow recipients, to have been included in what will most certainly go down in history as one of President Trump’s most defining acts,” Mr. Southold responded when informed of the honor.
