I could have written something like this. And a lot of those who just automatically oppose Trump fail to see why many support him.
I find the support unwarranted and while he articulates certain issues that are important to those supporting him, he is not the person to solve these issues.
Nevertheless, the strategy the Democrats are using is not persuasive to vast numbers of people and so tone-deaf that right now he is probably favoured to win the election.
When I have pointed out the shortcomings to progressives I get accusations of bothsidism instead of an engagement of introspection of weaknesses on their own team.
So like Stephens, I do not want Trump to win but there is a case for him to appeal to non educational, social, and economic elite and that case is strong enough so that he may well win come November.
