The Trump trial, in case you missed it.

Trump wanted to give a closing argument in addition to his lawyer's closing arguments. The prosecution objected, but the judge said he wanted to be as fair as possible, and as it was not a jury trial he'd allow it as long as Trump agreed stick to giving a closing argument, not testifying, not giving a campaign speech, and not attacking the judge, his staff, the legal system, etc.

Trump's lawyer, in emails to the judge, elided those limits, avoiding saying yes or no, likely because neither answer was possible for him. Say no, and his client doesn't get to speak. Say yes, and your client is mad you agreed to shackle him and won't abide by the limits anyway.

So judge says no, and lawyer does his pro forma whining about unfairness so he can show it to his client.

At end of closing arguments, again asks for permission to let Trump speak. Judge agrees, reiterating the conditions. Trump begins speaking and quickly violates the conditions. Judge shuts him down.

Trump now gets to again pretend the legal case against him has been so unfair, so unfair, and the judge, the Democrat judge, is just out to get him.

And his cultists will eat it up.
