Trump's wall and why it won't work!

in trump •  8 years ago

Security is one of the most reptilian concept in politics. It can hardly be measured and insured. The Trump camp needs to accept this and the electorate should reflect a bit deeper into the implications of a cheap statement.

Don't get me wrong I do support Trump. But that is contained within the limits of logic and reason. This article came after being confronted to Trump opponents. I had the brilliance of answering the wall's objections with "It's pretty much already there". That shut the debate quick, but again, was I right? So here I am, surveying the question.

What is Trump's wall and might it be feasible? Let's have a look at it! The implications are massive, not only in costs for a country now over 200% dept to GDP. The US might be the greatest nation in the world, but there are things stronger; i.e. NATURE!

On the 3200 km stretch between California and Texas, many wildlife reserves, dry river beds, obstacles and... people. Here is a 3D Google tour on how to block migrants in a swamp how politics can complicate many, many things...

It is so naive to think that a wall will stop starving Guatemala migrants that it begs the question: Could we just all get along together?

I can't speak for the geography, but people have already estimated the cost of the wall - legitimate sources, like CNN, who discussed the cost with engineers.

The wall would cost around:

$10,000,000,000

Obama just pushed a fiscal year budget of:

$4,000,000,000,000

$4,000,000,000,000 - $10,000,000,000 = $3,990,000,000,000.

Considering the wall would also take about 4 years to make, splitting that $10 billion across 4 years, its actually like this:

$4,000,000,000,000 - $2,500,000,000 = $3,997,500,000,000

Which makes the cost of building the wall 0.063% of the current fiscal year budget for the federal government over the period of 4 years.

Even with cost overruns, the cost would be statistically insignificant.

Did you see that movie 'Sicario' how they were digging tunnels, under the border?
