Trump must step aside (at least for now).

Perhaps a surprise to many, but not me, President Trump has been administered dexamethasone (decadron) and this is something that speaks against the situation that they're spelling out to the media.

For one, it means that his condition is likely worse than they're letting on. But most importantly, people should know that Dexamethasone and other drugs of this class can have a potentially serious side effect of psychosis.

At first, it might be mild, but can quickly become extreme. It's also fairly common to experience extreme bouts of psychosis after extended use. Now, I have no reason to believe that the doctors caring for President Trump have purposefully administered this for it's negative effects, more likely is that the benefits greatly outweigh the risks.

However, at this point it time, I think it is absolutely necessary that the President hand over his powers whilst under this prescription. An episode of psychosis while relatively small in risk, remains too much risk for someone that wields power like nuclear launch codes, and at a time like this, the safety of the American people (and of course the rest of the world) relies on his sound judgement.

Beyond the importance of who has power, is the importance of leadership in the interest of the people. This means stepping aside when there is reasonable risk of having poor judgement whilst on the drug.

This is an opportunity for Trump to behave as a statesman and not a strongman. We will see how he behaves in the coming days.
