Lol,
1.)Do transgender people cost more?
Yes and no, training is the same at least it should be, and if they hire the best person for the job regardless of sexual preference or gender identity I say an increase of efficiency would occur. However we know that will not happen. Affirmative action will take hold there will most likely be a bunch of rules and regulation's regarding the treatment of transgendered people along with pc touchy feely he/she hurt my feelings blah blah. Poster boy, girl, it, getting fast tracked etc so due to politics it will cost more, guaranteed. Why would they waste a good opportunity to raid the taxpayer. It shouldn't cost more but it will through no fault of the conscript's.
2.)Do they have a negative effect on other troops and would that continue to be so?
I believe any professional regardless of gender identity will do fine. They will face discrimination on some level but a pro knows how to deal with adversity, and the vast majority of soldier's are professional's as well. There is always a small minority of degenerate's in any occupation the military is no different. Again if they hire the best of the best there will be no real issue, and again we know they wont.
3)How important is inclusiveness in relation to the public's perception of the army?
Dam politics's, in theory it should not matter one iota, in theory do the public really care who is protecting them from the enemy. Could be freaking robot's for all I care. In reality media and politician's will make inclusiveness a big deal. Which is kind of funny really. Why shouldn't transgendered people be given the opportunity to rob rape and pillage, kill be killed or disfigured and eventually get screwed by the very government that fought so valiantly to include them.
4)Is there anything specifically personal to transgendered people that might cause problems?
This question might be better answered by a transgendered person. As I can not really contemplate what a transgendered person might consider personal. If it is different at all from heterosexual individual's.
5)Why should working for the army be considered different from any other job?
I would say the extreme risk to health and safety makes the military a little different. Hiring a clerk to sit at a desk and file report's all day is one thing. Ensuring as best as we can that the individual beside you in a fire fight is stable should be a priority. Not suggesting transgendered people are unstable just a general difference between hiring in a 9-5 and the military. I suppose the same requirements could be applied to an emergency respond-er.
6)If any problems are identified, do they apply to all jobs in the army?
I don't really believe that a specific problem can be attributed to a specific gender, race or class. No one can say that transgender people suffer from a specific problem that is unique to their community. If there is such a problem it would be a social one, which would bring me back to simply hiring the best person for the job. Take breast augmentation or implant's. They are done across the spectrum of society. I would say ddd might make you a less effective soldier, but a hell of a secretary:)
7)Do any of the factors, singularly or as a whole, give credence to a complete ban?
Absolutely not government ban's never have the desired effect. However considering that the lgbtq community is a small minority in society(one might not think this was the case based on the media coverage) Donald Trump is placing his bet's. And forcing the liberal's to double down. Do they support the lgbtq community and risk alienating everyone else. Or do they abandon one of their last outpost's so to speak. It's a pretty genius move by the Donald. The issue is political pure and simple.
So should there be a ban in the military, no its pointless. Should military member's be held to an extremely high standard? Yes. Meet the criteria your in, don't and your not. The simplicity is mind boggling yet our politicians yet again need to go and throw monkey wrenches in the work's.
- Dam I talk a lot
"no its pointless"
I agree. I just don't see what can be gained by it. On the political side, I think Trump has made a big mistake with this one - the argument was already over.
"Dam I talk a lot"
I see you are into understatements. :)
