the only thing i have come up with is to try to make myself into someone that i feel comfortable trusting. what else do you need? sometimes we need to rely on others but for people who haven't already screwed me over, i find the best policy is trust but verify. i never recommend anyone trust a group, such as the church or the state. that way madness lies, if you live long enough to go mad.
