Amy Winehouse. Chronicle of an Annunciated Death or Suicide?

in truth •  7 years ago

The one of Amy Winehouse could be the chronicle of a death announced. The British singer, 27, known as "the princess of soul", had a fleeting reign in the world of music in which she shone for her voice and scandalized by her frequent relapses in alcohol and drugs. Yesterday, shortly before four o'clock in the afternoon, an ambulance service arrived at his apartment in North London but could do nothing. In spite of the doctors' attempts to revive her, Amy was already dead, supposedly as a result of an overdose, although the causes are still officially unknown.

In a garage that serves as a store for a used clothing and furniture store, the voice of the singer mixed with the noise of the shutter as it went down. It also closes the career of an English musical phenomenon that caught the eye with his first album, Frank, in 2003, and that was the unbeatable dark side of a new generation of female white soul voices like Adele, Duffy and Lilly Allen.

The father of the singer, Mitch Winehouse, was in New York to perform at the jazz club Blue Note when he heard the news. As soon as he knew, he canceled his commitments and took a flight back to London to be with his family.

With his album "Black to Black", in 2006, Winehouse won five Grammy awards and left for the always unfair posterity his single "Rehab", in which he declared for those who wanted to hear him that "I do not want to go to rehabilitation". There are numerous photos in which she appears drunk and emaciated, day and night, snapshots of a way of living, and of being, brilliant, unbearable, and of a tragically short duration.

Winehouse, with her peculiar shaved hairstyle, her high heels, her sailor tattoos and her seventies makeup, saw her talent as a singer and composer dull due to the addictions that forced her to intern continuously. Her extreme thinness (due to eating disorders) added to the consumption of cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and alcohol and a tendency to depression, pushed her to a precocious and sad end.
