Some of us are wired for the truth no matter how painful or ugly, and some of us do not have the equipment to handle it. The truth can fry you, just like too much electricity can fry a system not built for the current.
It's agonizing to stand by and watch the wilful destruction of something you love, especially when you see clearly the discrepancy between what is possible vs. what is happening.
I don't think we choose to be truth seekers or truth tellers. We're either born that way or we are not. For those of us who are, we have to be warriors for what we believe is right and good in this world. But we can only lead people to truth, we can't make them see or believe it if they don't have the willingness or capacity.
And that's the burden we carry, but it's also our salvation and our comfort. The hard part is bearing the days we feel the burden rather than the comfort.
