Greet the Truth with Open Arms

We had corrected what was false (i.e. that illegal immigrants get government assistance) and reminded her that America's the melting pot and she wouldn't even be alive if it weren't for immigration.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

What's scary is when this comes to information, people can hold onto and proclaim anything they think is "true" whether it's blatantly false or not, and whether they've researched it or not. They can shut out any information that doesn't agree with the conclusion they already have. I think there needs to be a lot more emphasis in American schools on how to determine if something is factual, because what's happening in this country right now is terrifying. Deception is everywhere and people just keep falling for it. We all do this at least occasionally, but some people will believe the craziest things, like the earth being flat.

I urge each one of us to check our facts with reputable sources, and instruct others on doing the same. The stakes are very high right now, and misinformation is rampant.
