Having more Steem Power (SP) serves two purposes:

  1. It allows you to post/comment more per day
  2. It increases the worth of your upvote

Going from 15 to 30 SP increases the number of posts you can make from 3 to 6 per day.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
