Try Something New Tuesday- Make-up for Stage and Film

Imgur

Hello! I would like to share with you the video I made for the Try Something New Tuesday. If you are not familiar with this concept, @byn can tell you more about it in her videos, and you can see them by following her on Steemit.

Every Tuesday @byn tries to do something new, and this week it was to show her make-up routine, which you can find in the post, My (rare) Quick, Basic, Old Lady Makeup Routine.

This week Byn also added a challenge for us to get on camera and show our make-up or hair routines. My friend @snook took the challenge and you can see her video in the post, @byn's Makeup Challenge, where she shows us how serious putting on make-up can be.

My video is my tiresome. Putting on make-up used to be such a treat for me because I would try on different color combinations and new hair styles. I had my make-up all set up and organized, and everything was easy to find and use. This was when I was young, and my skin was tight with little to no clogged pores.

As I aged, I stopped putting as much effort into putting on make-up, and eventually it was only something I did before I went to work, or to an event. Most days I don’t even bother doing my make-up. You can see the frustration as I try my best to cover the many flaws invading my face. It is almost a chore to do it now.

In my youth I briefly went to modeling school, and I used to do my make-up when I danced with the Steel City Angels. Doing my make-up for stage takes more effort because the make-up needs to show when the bright lights are shining on my face and I need to use bright colors. Since I don’t normally do my make-up anymore, I thought it would be cool to flashback to my stage days and see if I could still pull off the look.

The make-up I do in the video is not something you would want to do everyday because it is a lot of make-up. Everything I do has to be done twice so that there is a thick layer of make-up on my face. But if you wanted to follow me and try to replicate the look, you could do so with any colors, and with only one coat of primer.

I guess now you could Photoshop your make-up and skip the entire process… so this will be a history lesson for those reading this in the future.

I do apologize for the lighting. Trailers have the worst light. I tried to do this in one of our spare rooms in the back of the house because the sun is brighter there, but the sun kept going behind the clouds, so I just did my best! It really is quite a boring video, thanks for taking the time to watch it.

If you are reading this post because you are learning to do your make-up for stage or film, be sure to invest in the expensive make-up. You can see in the video that even though I am using store brand named make-up, my make-up still looks “cheap” for a lack of words.

P.S. I applaud any woman who takes the time to do their hair and make-up every day. Bravo!

Will You Take the Challenge?
