Since 9/11, Americans have become accustomed to the TSA, their searches and rules, every time we take a flight. However, does any of it make air travel safer?

Security expert, Bruce Schneier, created the term "security theater" to describe the screenings we go through before we pass through to our departure gates. The TSA is constantly implementing new measures to keep us safe. The problem with this is that 1) these new measures are almost always reactionary and not precautionary, and 2) we all suffer the consequences of increased screenings and lost time.

Despite all this screening and searches, the success rate is still very low. The Department of Homeland Security when testing TSA in several major airports found somewhere around an 80% failure rate.
