Just expressing my thoughts...

Sometimes in life, I find myself having negative thoughts, and like the world is ending type of feeling. I am usually a very positive and motivational person who loves to spread positivity around me. But, every once in a while I get caught up with negative thinking which is hard to shake off. It is normal to get caught in such period of our lives. It is not always easy to shake those thoughts away and soon one negative thought attracts more negativity into our lives. I always wondered why this is happening? I mean if aspire to be a positive person how do I get caught up in all of this negative thinking and emotions?

Well, what if I told you that most of the times the emotions we feel are really not our emotions? We tend to absorb the emotions of other people and happenings around us. They are really not our emotions, but they sure do feel like ours. Personally, for me, I found to be very confused during those times because sometimes I have no idea where these emotions came from.

Like I said I aspire to be a motivational and positive person. The older I get the more I learn about myself and now I can safely say I can identify myself to be an emphatic person. I deeply feel others people emotions around me, and sometimes I know how a person feels with him even telling somethings is wrong. Not to brag or anything but a lot of times I can even feel how somebody is feeling with a simple text message, or by just looking at him even though that person is smiling and appears to be happy. I have surprised a lot of people with it. Usually telling them things about them which they feel but not really express. Sometimes it is really weird for me how much my intuition about the person finds to be correct.

Ok, so what I am trying to tell you is that I absorb a lot of peoples energies around me which can be positive and unfortunately sometimes very negative. I am sure many of you do also without really knowing about it. Just as the energy can be transferred so can the emotions also. Even from a person to a person. So before you diagnose yourself as a negative person first make sure you are not surrounded by negative people, and negative surroundings in general. Most of the time it is the case.

So what to do now is probably what you are asking yourself? I can only speak from my personal experience and how I managed to control my negative periods in life. First thing I did was I found a quiet place just like I found one in this picture above. Every country I go to with basketball I found a similar place such as this one. A place where I can literally. "clear" my thoughts. I love the sea and the gorgeous Adriatic Sea sunsets. They calm me down and help me relax so I can think more clearly.

Breath through your nose while you are trying to "meditate", it helps with calming down. Deep breaths in, deep breaths out.

I don't talk much or at all when I am there. I just think about all the thoughts running through my head. You can't control thoughts running through your thought train, but the more you "meditate", the more you will identify those negative thoughts which are not "yours". They have been transferred on to you by negative people and negative situations around you. How to identify those thoughts? For me, it is simple. Once I calm down I think about the certain thought and I follow what my intuition or my soul is telling me. Usually, the first feeling you get about the thought is the correct one. Once you identify them you can acknowledge them and let them pass out of your mind. It is like finding a virus on your computer and turning on your anit-virus program to clean it out. Plus, you will know exactly from who those thoughts came from. Are their yours or somebodies else's?

Soon you will realize the world is not coming to an end, it just a couple negative thoughts. lol

At least, this is how I make sense of it. As I am not an expert in any sense of the way when it comes to these matters. All I know for sure is this helps me clear my mind of negative thoughts. The more I have done this the easier it got, and I was able to identify those negative people who "corrupt" my mind and my peace. What you do when you find out who they are is entirely up to you. For me, most of them are not a part of my life anymore. The ones who are still part of my life bring way more positivity in my life than their negative periods. Are some people worth the negativity in your life?

This is the only question I ask myself when I am put in this kind of situation in life. I always get my answer listening to my intuition and my soul. I have never let me down so far. At least, since I found the courage to follow it about 3-4 years ago. Identifying the negative people and thoughts in your life is one thing, but following your soul's answers is another. All I know my life had turned for the better since I choose to follow it and trust my "gut feeling" about people and my thoughts.

One thing I know for sure and that is we all need to find our own "quiet place to silence our minds, in order to hear our soul". Sometimes we all get on the negative thinking side of life, and it can be energy draining, and even discouraging. This is why we all need some time alone, to clear our thoughts. We all need the place where we can just relax, take a few deep breaths, calm our minds, and let our soul speak to us. Let it calm our minds, and clear our thoughts. So my friends, find your own place on a beach or any place which you find calming. Tune into your soul "channel" and let it guide you through tough times. Let those negative thoughts wash away from your body.

Listen to your soul...

Thank you for the kind words and support. I am glad you find inspiration in my writing. I just literally pour my thoughts on the paper. It is the way I perceive life and some of the situations I went through in my life and sometimes go through again but with more experience each time. Which makes it easier to handle. Life and experience are always the greatest teachers. :)

Sometimes we just need to be alone for a little while and to think. It helps us completely concentrate on the things that are happening in our life, the sources of both pain and joy. As humans I think we are sometimes too connected to media, the internet, etc and sometimes its just good to disconnect. Good write up

That we are for sure. We are constantly bombarded with media, TV, and internet. We do need some time alone to clear our mind. Just disconnect from everything and clear our thoughts. :)

Interesting, how then do you distinguish your own negative thoughts from someone elses??

Like I said, I am not an expert or anything like it, on this matter. But the way I do it is by simply thinking about where did the thought come from. Who was the source? A person? A TV? When did I start thinking about this? Usually, I get the answer right away.

For example, I am a basketball player and I had many problems with injuries. Even though I am good now, but sometimes my mind starts thinking again about the injuries when somebody on the team gets's injured or starts talking about them. Like I said in the text it can from certain negative situations in life or simple negative talk. Like a talk about injuries. Those thoughts came to me from someone. In this case my teammate. My teammate was a trigger which brought back all my negative memories about injuries I had in the past.

I can't, of course, control when someone gets injured or starts talking about injuries. It is part of our profession. But I can move away from the talk about it, or I can give advice to someone injured with all the experience I have about it. In that way turning negative into positive. Helping someone get better faster.

It is all about turning those negative situations into positives.

But, like I said this is just me expressing my thoughts about the subject from my personal experience. Not an expert in any way. :)

Finally, I can rest for the week and welcome a long holiday where I can start catching up with all the overdue to be looked upon posts! haha.

You are right in many ways when you express that you literally absorb other people's emotions, that is because, as what you have discovered, as we grow older we tend to be more understanding and compassionate about the people around us, and to appreciate what we get to see and experience through life.

In short, we learn to number our days

I don't blame you for feeling the negative energy lately especially after the horrifying experience so closed with the flames that engulfed almost 60% of your hill (looking at the photo and comparing). Going through that and walked out alive to tell the tale and to see the devastated people around you. I can only imagine all the emotions that goes through your eyes and ears (your gates) that effects your heart.

I am not here to argue with you, my dearest friend. But I do want to encourage you, have that quiet time of yours, seek deep.

There could be something void inside that maybe the post traumatic stress (usually after a horrified experience) have taken away. I know how that feels. That certain part inside you that you cannot generate that light within you.

As you remembered you have read my Selah post previously and you know how I reconnect by knowing who I truly am, and work from there; so I too right now, encourage you to do the same.

You are, by far, in steemit, the most compassionate and kind person I have ever met and you will always do whatever it takes to cheer someone on. That is the gift that God (my big man upstairs as I often like to refer lol) has given you. That is actually in each and every one of us but often times, things in life will either dim it or even destroy it.

so I truly want to, cheer you back, and have that deep breath moment, and know that you are a very valuable person from inside, and from there, let that realisation push those negative out of your system.

I pray that your light within you will flow out like living waters soon and have that happy smile again.

The fire did not so much get into a negative thinking as much as it disappointed me because it seems all the fires were planted. I can't understand people doing these things. RIght now I have learned how to snap myself out quickly from negative thinking but simply turning it into something positive. I did not sit on my butt, and I went out there and helped in any way I can. It is the how united people were in the face of danger which inspired and motivated me.

Totally agree with you... No arguments... Yes.. Sometimes it's not our feelings that we are feeling... Some people are much more sensitive... And can feel how others feel... If we don't know how to differentiate which is from our own and which is not ours... We tend to get upset and KO by those negativity which is not ours.
So calming down and listening to ourselves is a good advise...

Glad you agree with me, Eliza. I can relate to getting upset which I would realize later were not mine at all. It is a strange feeling. I am glad I can recognize them now before they upset and KO me.

That is why it's important to find your place of peace and calm down in order to recognize those emotions and let them pass out of your mind.

Normally I will cry the hell out of myself... Ya... Crying is a way of me calming myself down... I dunno why.. But it does help me to clear my mind...

There is nothing wrong with crying, my amazing friend if it helps you pour those emotions out of you. Even "THE MEN" do it sometimes. lol Everybody deals with emotions in their own way, but as long as it helps it is the right way and no one can tell you differently. :)
