We went here to search for an old Bi-Plane, but they only had this 1924 Grasshopper in it's original state. The plane was used in World War II as a spotter plane for enemy gun positions.
Here we have lady Marian standing at a plane after a totally unexpected event took place during our visit!
We arrived at an almost deserted little airfield and I called a guy to come and open the security gate. Before I could say a word the guy said that he owns the pilot training school and that he could train me as a pilot! He must have been under the impression that I wanted pilot training.
I laughed and told him that I have a degree of color blindness and that the air-force failed me for pilot training years ago! He laughed and said that it is only valid for night flying and that I can fly in the day. Oh man, what a waste, I could have been flying 20 years ago. The armed forces could have trained me for free during my army call up period!
I asked the guy what he charges for the pilot training and he mentioned some astronomical figure! I told him that I run a charity and that I earn a tiny salary but this didn't faze him, as he said we can do it in payments. Now I am sitting torn between my life dream and my allergy to debt!
I have to ask myself why I ran into this offer, as it was on instinct that I turned off to visit the airfield and I don't believe in co-incidences. It was almost as if this guy was waiting for us!
