The operation is performed under local anesthesia. With the help of contrasting, special intravascular catheters are conducted into the arterial vessels of the liver that feed the hemangioma. After the blood flow through these vessels is blocked, and the hemangioma decreases in size and stops its growth.
This technique is an alternative to abdominal surgery. The advantage of the procedure is that if a large number of vascular nodes are diagnosed in the liver, embolization is a good option for getting rid of them. Since large areas are resected, there are high risks. But when carrying out such a low-traumatic operation, the risks are minimized.
