Chuck D's 18 Reasons why "2Pac is not Dead" (2015)

3 years ago today on February 2, 2015 I had the chance to speak with Chuck D after his appearance at the "All Eyez on Me: Writings of Tupac Shakur" opening night at the Grammy Museum exhibit to honor 2Pac's legacy in downtown Los Angeles.

Mister Chuck quickly denounced the "18 Compelling Reasons" and reminds us that he did so in 1997 (3 weeks after 2Pac's death), when he came to South Central and spoke to people closer to the situation.

In addition to speaking on this subject, Chuck also talks about how brave Tupac was to come out with songs referencing his mother such as "Dear Momma" and issues such as respect to women and teenage pregnancy in songs like "Keep ya Head Up" and "Brenda's Got a Baby".

Chuck D brings a great perspective of Balance when referring to Pac as an "Artist" and gives a great analogy of how we should interpret his "Artistry". Specifically, "take what is good and let go of the bad because it won't help you." This is very powerful and directly connects us to the "Positivity of Tupac" as a person and not to get hung up in the negative elements of his life or the mistakes that he made (because everyone makes mistakes).

This discussion and is a much watch for anyone who still believes that "Tupac is a Alive" and/ or for those who would like to understand the endless echo chamber of "Conspiracy" theories that float around the internet with no "End point" in sight. I swear Chuck was lookin' at me like i was crazy at first but then he warmed up to me i think he was a really cool and great guy. A true pioneer and legend to Hip Hop history and Culture.
