Every turkey baster I’ve owned has been terrible at sucking up juices.

They’ll only fill up an inch or two at the tip, aspirate a bunch of air, and then leak out rapidly. Are they supposed to work like this, or is everyone just doing a bad job making turkey basters? I literally just tried two from two different brands, and they were both bad in exactly the same way. I can’t see any purpose in it—it just seems like shoddy design to me.

On a related note, I used to think all garlic presses were bad because they naturally squirted garlic out the sides. Then I bought one from Zeiss, and it actually worked the way a garlic press should: the garlic came out of the holes instead of getting mushed and pushed backward. So I know bad design is absolutely a possibility for many commonly made products.

Fixed it (mostly)
