Turkey's primary restriction party has required a parliamentary request after the directorate of religious undertakings said that, under Islamic law, young ladies as youthful as nine could wed.
The remarks by the Diyanet provoked an overflowing of outrage via web-based networking media from Turkish ladies' gatherings.
The directorate demanded it was just characterizing purposes of Islamic law.
Turkey's lawful period of marriage is 18 yet the act of underage weddings in religious functions is across the board.
Turkish law additionally permits 17-year-olds to wed with the assent of their folks or watchman, or 16-year-olds in outstanding conditions with court endorsement.

The present objection was begun by an announcement on youthfulness posted online by the Diyanet, the state body which directs religious organizations and instruction.
It said that, as indicated by Islamic law, the start of pre-adulthood for young men was the age of 12 and for young ladies the age of nine. On a similar site, it said that whoever achieved the period of pre-adulthood had the privilege to wed.
Thirty MPs of the primary restriction Republican People's Party (CHP) approached the administration to dispatch an examination concerning kid marriage.
Murat Bakan, CHP's MP for Izmir, said on Twitter: "The Turkish Civil Code plainly expresses that adulthood starts at 18 years old. Early relational unions disregard kids' rights, ladies' right's, human rights. As CHP MPs we request that parliament explore youngster relational unions."
In a later explanation, the Diyanet said it was just characterizing Islamic law and that it didn't affirm of early relational unions.
"Constraining a young lady to wed somebody before they get the mental and natural development, and before they pick up the obligation to make a family and turn into a mother, would not conform to Islam which puts assent and will as a condition in a marriage," it said.
"Our directorate has never endorsed early relational unions before, and it never will."
As of late Turkey has seen expanding strain between supporters of its mainstream constitution and the individuals who support religious conservatism.
In 2016 the legislature pulled back a bill that exonerated men sentenced sex with underage young ladies on the off chance that they had hitched them.
