DIY Turmeric & nutmeg Face Mask for Glowing Skin
There are thousands of beauty products on the market promising you clearer, glowing skin but in my opinion, nothing beats a healthy lifestyle and diet to get the skin of your dreams. Sure, beauty products are great to give your skin a boost of radiance, but most are overloaded with filler ingredients and toxic chemicals.
Instead, why not create your own DIY Turmeric Face Mask, which is packed with antioxidants and natural botanicals that can give your skin a naturally beautiful glow?
Turmeric, nutmeg, raw honey can help you boost that natural radiant glow
Turmeric has been used to enhance the skin for hundreds of years and is most popular in South Asian households. Traditionally used during wedding season, Indian brides would slather a mixture of turmeric and yogurt over their face and body the night before the big day to give them an all-over glow. As well as boosting the skin’s radiance, turmeric can help maintain elasticity in the skin and soothe sensitivity. What makes turmeric so potent is its antioxidant properties. It contains curcumin, which, when applied to the skin, can help keep it looking plump and feeling moisturized. It also helps maintain the skin’s collagen, making turmeric my favorite natural anti-aging remedy.
Its soothing properties can also help heal any skin irritations, which makes it ideal for those with sensitive skin. However, its rich yellow color can cause temporary staining to the skin. To avoid this try wiping away any excess color left from the mask with olive oil. It also goes without saying that you shouldn’t be wearing your best clothes when preparing and wearing this face mask!
Nutmeg is a great exfoliator, which reduces blemishes, helps clear skin and reduces blackheads.
The DIY face mask is super easy
This DIY beauty recipe is super easy to emulate and you’re likely to have most of the ingredients in your kitchen cupboard, making it cost effective too!
Another ingredient used in this DIY face mask is raw honey, which can help hydrate and moisturize the skin. It also contains enzymes, which can help break down dead skin cells, and a small amount of alpha-hydroxy acid to help brighten skin and even out tone.
Yogurt is packed with beneficial bacteria and, like honey, contains lactic acid, which is a mild alpha hydroxy acid that helps brighten skin and even out skin tone.
Why add probiotics to the mix?
Probiotics include various strains of healthy bacteria that occur naturally on your skin. Adding them to your beauty products enhance the nurturing and protecting benefits of your DIY products.
