DTutorial #95 - This WILL Change your Life on Dtube and Beyond!

in tutorial •  7 years ago

Hey there Steemians, Winny here, how are you guys doing?

Do this challenge and I can promise you that it will benefit you in the long run -> CommentingDaily

There's nothing stronger than building connections.

When you are starting out, people will be asking themselves: "Why should I care watching your video?" unless, of course, you have a killer content, but otherwise they won't give a damn.

The solution for this?

Relationship BOOM!!

Don't mynd upvoting it, resteeming it, doing with it whatever you like. Remember to stay awesome!

Sort Order:

5 minutes is nothing... Your video was 5 minutes long already plus comment time. I used to spend hours on that. I would say probably 2 - 3 hours every day watching and commenting other people’s content. Not because I had the feeling of having to support somebody but because I like you guys.
And if I don’t comment or upvote something, well maybe that video wasn’t that interesting or good or I just don’t have the time watching everything. Everyone of us has good and bad works but an honest interaction is worth so much.
And if I don’t follow somebody in the group that is my personal decision and nothing against this person. Maybe this content is not interesting for me but for somebody else within the group. I guess there’s nothing against smaller sub-groups within our group. That is what I’ve been already talking about at the very beginning.
I also believe that voting trails are completely trash and they are poisoning the whole community. Because people think their duty is done without ever having watched or commented a video. I guess following less people but interacting actively with them that’s where we want to be. Quality > Quantity ;)

Brother, I agree with what you are saying as in interacting with people.

With the trail, I agree and disagree at the same time. I disagree because the trail is only for the social proof aspect. I agree because it is still draining our voting power, which doesn't leave us to distinguish what's really good and bad. @axios wrote to me yesterday and he has a good point about contests where we reward people with the "content of the week" with 10SBD or something like that. We can talk about that on the virtual meetup.

Challenge accepted :

you're trying too hard.

I'm not trying too hard brotherhood :) I'm just sharing with you guys my opinion. That's all.

Thank u for watching man.

Tell me what ur opinion is.

Winnys back...with engagements ;)

What's trying too hard anyway? It's all perspective

Trying to hard... well at this point in DTube it is clear who is committed to the community. Winny is memorable and in the near future he’ll be regarded as a DTube original. Those who don’t take the time to comment and interact will not be acknowledged in the future. Also no DTuber can express all their ideas in one video so commenting is important for clarification and further discussion.

Thank you brother for your insightful thoughts man :)

The reason I made this video is because of dtubedaily. I know that all of us are dedicated and I'm so grateful to have people like that in the group, honestly. But I just realized (also myself included) that the engagements has gone down and dtubedaily should be an idol and inspiration for the new comers. These things happen. There will always be days where you feel like crap or you are busy or family matters or other problems such as not having internet, etc. These things can also happen...however! IF it's possible to engage, we all should :)

Thank you again brother! Appreciate it loads :)

Brother man! Love the fact that you rekindling the energy to interact with the community on a deeper level. I have fallen off this last week but am definitely trying to focus on this now that I am aware of it.

It happens man :)

Thank u for watching brother!

Winnys back...with engagements ;)

Yes brother. I'm going to give myself a personal challenge to do this once or twice a day honestly. It's amazing that people are noticing this trend. It's even more amazing knowing that people are willing to change the sitaution

It happens brother, but once recognized what will we do about it? And yes! It's definitely fascinating how people are willing to change :)

Thank u ma man! For watching

Man Brother you always make me laugh!! So funny. You are right the beauty of this platform was the interaction. That was my first love on the platform. For a whole month that's all I did. Not one post just comments and the interactions were great!

It happens from time to time where we experience this phase of laziness or being busy or not in the mood or feeling discouraged.

I'm really happy that I'm able to make you smile brother :)

Winny out...for now ;)

ebbs and flows... circling the circle. big love always

:) Glad that you are now in Hua Hin and we are able to collaborate!

Winny out...for now ;)

Glad you are back and at full commenting force. I try to find time to catch up on videos whenever I can. I always appreciate comments and I usually comment to others when I watch their videos.

That is really awesome brother that you keep up your awesomeness :D You are an inspiration!

LOL, actually I was away from Steemit from the last two weeks, have been learning some SQL stuff and went on a short trip with friends, so that's the reason I wasn't engaging within the DTube Daily community but I will make sure to be consistent in the future! You are quite right with that building connections thing and hey, did your mom know that you were making a video? If yes, then she is a good actress too!

Hahahahaha, yes my mum knew that I was acting :D

No worries brother, everyone also has a life to get back to, but sometimes we fall into this "pit" where we feel discouraged and so I made this video :)

I definitely feel like our curation trail has affected the level of interactions on posts. It's unfortunate because it does have it's benefits and it's downfalls. The thing with the community is that I feel that there is numerous ways to nurture the connections we establish besides just comments. In my opinion I'd rather send a dm to someone to touch base if I don't have the time to watch and comment on videos. Now with the dtube update it's harder to watch videos because things don't load and I don't just want to be leaving a quick comment that doesn't have any emotional backing. Being thoughtful and considerate takes time and energy, and definitely a lot more than five minutes. I'd rather sit down when I have the time, like I have this morning and give as much love as I can at 100%. I can't always do this every day and I'd rather that then giving 10% of my energy because that feels as empty as the curation.
In saying I think it's silly to blame the bot for the lack of interaction, it's up to individuals to be responsible for their own actions. I'd like to think we all try our best and I'd also like to think that people aren't going to be upset with me if I haven't interacted with them in a while. I understand relationships require work but the best connections are when each party understands that life happens and that when we do have time and energy we give our best in those moments.
Open and honest communication is key to any successful relationship and I don't think it benefits anyone to make assumptions about why people aren't engaging. There a lot of things that go on behind close doors.
Obviously this is just my perspective and everyone is free to interpret the situation however they choose. I've gotten so much closer with a few people in the community recently and I would like that to be known.
I will always have a lot of love for this community based on how greatly it has impacted me even through all the ups and downs.

As always, your long and thoughtful words are appreciated @neeqi. And yes, I totally agree with you on that. What I mean with 5 minutes commenting, I didn't mean watching as many videos as possible and commenting as much as you can. The reason why I made this video is because I saw a lot of videos not receiving any engagements and I didn't want people to feel discouraged. Yes, we are building connections outside of the videos, which is really great because I totally agree with you that you build a much deeper relationship with each and everyone of the people, however, since I saw that a lot of the videos are barely getting comments from dtubedaily members I thought it might be a bit discouraging for some who have put in the work. Yes, I do understand that life gets in the way and I totally get that and if that person really doesn't have the time to do so then I get that as well, but IF they do have time then they should spend at least 5 minutes (which is equivalent to one video) to comment on that. What I wanted to avoid is the cycle where people saw that "ah, my one isn't getting any engagements then why should I comment others?.

Thank you again neeqi <3

Your passion knows no bounds Winny. It's great to see, as is your creativity in your videos.

I don't feel like the curation trail has affected the quantity or quality of my comments at all. It means I can use my steem power to help out with my vote with no effort, but I still watch the same videos and comment in exactly the same way as I would if there were no curation trail, so I see it was a win-win.

I do comment when I can and enjoy watching the passing around of inspiration and collaborations. The virtual meetups are useful to some extent for that too, but the most useful place is the Discord group, both with the convo thread and DMs. I often watch a video, enjoy it and thing to myself 'is it really worth saying "great video" if I can't think of anything more meaningful or don't have the time? I don't think so. So what I do instead is upvote to give it 100%.

But here I am commenting on this - it's Saturday morning, I've got no work today and, even though I've NOT had coffee yet (wife still sleeping - coffee grinder is NOISY) I'm enjoying going through videos when they're actually loading properly and I have time to think about them and comment fully.

Keep that passion flowing Winny. It's infectious!

My first reaction to this was "HOLY FREAKING DAMN!" Hahaha

Thank you so much man and I appreciate every word you say. On top of that, I totally agree with u as well. I think that the curation trail has affected some, but not me and I'm glad that it hasn't affected you as well.

When I comment, I also take the time to comment genuinely. When I read your comment, I felt so happy because it really does feel like you have watched my video <3 and what people don't realize is how much it actually means to that person :)

I will spread my passion as much as I can :D

PS: Dtubedaily will always be family.
