HOW TO RECEIVE YOUR EARNINGS LOCALLY AS A NIGERIAN FREELANCER

When I first started out as a Nigerian freelancer, I had issues with receiving my earnings.

Just imagine seeing money on your computer screen without being able to just convert it right on the screen into your local bank account. It's painful, isn't it?

We all know it's difficult with PayPal because sadly it seems the other side of some Nigerians reached their side . They swiftly placed a restriction on Nigerians from using their full services. And that's just it from their end.

But without mincing words, the essence of working - offline or online - is to get paid. A freelancer depends on the Internet to earn his or her income, therefore it's expedient to figure out a means by which such income is received locally.

Right now, one of the easiest ways to receive your funds as a Nigerian freelancer from freelance websites such as fiverr, upwork, etc, is via Payoneer.

Let me assume you have started earning on a freelance website as a Nigerian (using a Nigerian account). But right now, you're finding it difficult to claim your hard-earned money. So, how do you solve this problem?

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR FREELANCE ACCOUNT TO YOUR PAYONEER ACCOUNT:

To avoid putting the cart before the horse, firstly, realize that you need to register on payoneer before anything else. Once your registration on payoneer is successful, you're ready to link your freelance account with your new payoneer account.

All you've to do is to locate the 'Getting paid' or 'Payment mode' option on your freelance website's profile settings, and then chose payoneer. Note that you'll need to follow the simple instructions that'll be asked of you right there on your screen because each freelance websites (fiverr, upwork, guru, freelancer, etc have their peculiar way of doing things.

HOW TO GET YOUR PAYONEER MASTERCARD TO YOUR DOOTSTEP FROM UK:

Payoneer willingly sends free Mastercard to their users in order to help them withdraw their earnings in local currency.

I received mine last year after weeks of suffering in the cup of ignorance; I was busy sending mails to payoneer countless times but not getting anything resembling a card. The thing dey pain person!

So, the Mastercard we are talking about is basically a debit card which you can also use to make purchases on online stores. Also, just recently a friend who is into Cryptocurrency made me see another usefulness of the payoneer debit card too (story for another time).

PAUSE: You'll likely not receive the card 'directly to your doorstep' like I mentioned earlie, you could get the card from a few miles away from your home.

The most common mistake people make when trying to order for the Payoneer's Master card is to keep sending mails to the Payoneer support team; stating their desire to have the promised 'free' Master card sent to their 'so-so-and-so' home addresses.
No, such method wouldn't work at all. Probably it worked in the past, but it certainly wouldn't work now.

Here's the right way to prompt Payoneer to send your Master card to you.

Be sure to have some decent earnings in your freelance account; either it's fiverr, upwork, etc.

Be sure to have registered on the Payoneer website and send the earnings you have to your Payoneer account

It will probably take a while, depending on some factors, for your funds to enter your Payoneer's account. Once the funds have entered your Payoneer's account, certainly a new option in the form of 'Order for Card' will appear right on your screen.

Click on the option and follow the the instructions on your computer screen.

You'll be asked to fill the address to where your card will be delivered. This is where you should make a smart decision: Please, don't use your home address. Resist the temptation of using that sweet name of the street where you live. Even, Payoneer will not send the card to just any office address. Instead, fill the Post office address of a very notable place. This is to make it easier for Payoneer to locate you.

Personally, I used the address of the University where I graduated from.. So, I can certainly say using a tertiary institution's Post Office address isn't a bad idea.
You can use a very popular office address or a place where you can easily have access to your delivery. I believe you understand.

After filling the details, submit.
Payoneer will thereafter send a mail to you stating the time frame for your card to be delivered . Note that It usually takes around two to four weeks for your Payoneer Master card to arrive. Nobody will inform you when it arrives. It's good you go check the post office you used at the end of the time sent to you. It'll save you the stress of over expecting the card.

So, that is it... Following the steps and information I mentioned above will hopefully help you to begin to smile to the bank very soon.
