The Rookie Season 2 Episode 15 was another lighter episode. We had good little story arcs for three of our characters though. Nolan had his identity stolen. Grey went to face the man who killed his partner at his parole meeting. And Tim got to meet Rachel's dad.
Let's start off with Nolan. He goes to pay for his son's tuition only to find that his account has been drained. On top of that someone maxed out 6 credit cards in his name as well. It doesn't take long for Nolan to track down the perpetrator but looks like it won't be easy getting his funds returned, and possible he may never get anything back. Unfortunately for the perp, not only did he steal the identity of a cop but also from a real bad criminal dude. Eventually the bad dude tracks down the identity thief, cuts his hand off and is all ready for some murdering, and then Nolan saves the day! As a show of good faith the guy he saved offers up a vintage comic book collection that he will swear he bought with Nolan's money so that he can get his life back on track.
Next up we have Sgt. Grey and Angela Lopez who are headed to a parole interview for the man who killed Grey's partner. They both start out with the intention of wanting to make sure the guy stays behind bars. On the way to the meeting Lopez lets it slip that his partner had slipped off the wagon before his murder and was drinking again. This shakes up Grey a little bit and changes his mindset heading into the meeting. Right before the meeting, Grey and Lopez witness the killer interacting with his family, it's pretty clear that he has worked hard to rehabilitate himself and get his life back on track. Lopez still gives a damning statement about the killer but Grey opens up to the killer and says that he hopes he can set a good example for his son and that when he gets a second chance that he walks a better path. Parole denied.
lastly we have Tim Bradford and the terrible father of the girlfriend. We've all seen this a million times on TV, a father who doesn't want someone dating their daughter. Pretty much every show has done this at some point in time and we've even seen The Rookie pull this trick earlier this season. Eventually we get past the BS between the two of them and Rachel's father lets slip that she has likely inherited the Huntington's disease gene and could one day fall ill from the very debilitating affliction. In the end in only serves to bring Tim and Rachel closer together. It's been nice getting to see more of Bradford this season and I hope his character continues to evolve.
That's it for this week. I'll be back next week with another episode recap. Stay safe out there.
