Nathan For You is a docu-reality/comedy series, created by and starring comedian Nathan Fielder where he plays a version of himself. In it, Nathan helps struggling business with his excellent business and marketing skills, a claim backed up by his "really good grades". It's a situational comedy really, where he gives businesses dubious advice. It's also quite easily the funniest thing made for TV in the past decade.
"Nathan Fielder is a business advisor who implements strategies that no traditional consultant would dare attempt. Whether it's creating a coffee shop called Dumb Starbucks, inventing a poo-flavored yogurt or staging an elaborate video where a pig saves a goat, no idea is too daring. And while Nathan's efforts may not always succeed, they always have big results. This is Nathan For You."

Easily one of the best examples of his marketing strategies is the fourth episode of the first season, where a struggling independant gas station goes to Nathan, so he suggests offering a rebate to customers making the gas stations prices the lowest in the country. The catch; to claim the rebate, claimants must climb to the top of a mountain, answer a series of riddles, stay overnight and then deposit the rebate claim in a drop box. Amazingly, some people do indeed try to claim the rebate, and that's the second part of what makes this series so unique; The People.
Take James Bailey for example, a professional mall santa will a large arsenal in his closet, and who doesn't hesitate to tell kids if they don't buy a certain toy, then they're a baby. Or the gas station owner at the end of his episode, imbues Nathan with a bit of old country wisdom; if you drink the little kid pee, it heals you of most ailments. The fourth season finale was a feature-length episode about a former guest on the show, who claimed to be a Bill Gates impersonator, who had a lifelong regret about a former lover. The journey the two go on is both comedy genius and also incredibly touching. As usual, I won't go into too much detail as I strongly recommend you go hunt this treasure of a show down and binge watch it till your eyes bleed.
Nathan's take on our late capitalist world is indicative of the culture we find ourselves in. More and more people look at the world with their marketing glasses on now, take the big YouTubers of now such as the infamous Logan Paul, who's whole life is one long advertising campaign. It shouldn't surprise you to find out that the show is produced by none other than Tim and Eric of Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job!. They also have an uncanny ability to find these truthfully odd, but painfully real people.
