The Game of Thrones spin-off just released the first trailer yesterday and the reaction proves just how much damage the finale did.
The trailer has been out for about 24 hours and has 11 million views total on Facebook & YouTube.
Game of Thrones final season in the first 24 hours had the trailer hit 81 million.
On social media, the follow up reaction was even worse.
No noticeable hashtag growth for #got or #gameofthrones.
Very few YouTube channels are reviewing it.
The number one comment topic on YouTube were people bringing up the finale.
Also, for comparison on ratings with spin-off shows, Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul.
Breaking Bad’s finale had 10.8 million viewers.
Better Call Saul had 6.8 million.
Comparing that, the premiere of Breaking Bad had the pilot get 1.4 million viewers.
Showing the popularity transfer on Saul pumped it up over 5 million viewers compared to what the original had on pilot day.
And for Game of Thrones, the spin-off which is called House of the Dragon has a budget of 15 million an episode with 10 episodes on the launch.
150 million went into this pre marketing and the views on the trailer are lower over other HBO shows which came out as just originals such as Big Little Lies, with no back up.
I really loved Game of Thrones and think the show was so amazing, I’ll watch anything they put the name on.
But… This reaction really shows what happened from not investing more into the finale.
