#16 TV shows: The 100 - Hello Earth, this is space...

Today I am going to be a little more serious about a subject we all have in our mind… Naaaah just kidding… Just going to make another review, and today I will be talking about…..: The 100.

All right, let’s get to the point: yeah it is a teen TV Show, yes there is love, yes there is savages, yes there are dead, and yes it happens in the future of earth.
I have to admit, I am not a huge fan of teen series, but well if you have to make an exception in your life, do it with this Show. I have to admit, I am not « the ultimate » fan of this show but, well… I like it yeah…
I mean it is really well made, with simple special effects, but efficient ones.

The show began 97 years after a nuclear holocaust that annihilate the earth population, destroying all civilization. Only a hand full of survivor where able to escape that horrible fate landing in one of the 12 spatial stations orbiting around the earth. With time passing, the twelve stations merge together in one big Space Station called « the arch ».
Around 2400 living soul can be found on this « rescue » ship orbiting at thousands and thousands of feet above the globe’s surface. At the point where the TV Show starts already 3 generations have been succeeding one to another and the resources available for the entire population are reducing at an incredible speed. Decisions have to be made, and to them depend the survival of the human race.
Some incredible drastic measures have been made to ensure their survival such has death penalty for the adults, and a maximum of one child per family allowed. Leaders of the arch make ruthless choices to ensure the wealth of the whole. And one decision was to send a group of a 100 underaged persons to the earth surface in order to see if the earth is finally livable or not. For the first time in a hundred year, human return on Earth… or this is what they think.
In those 100 exiled people, you can find Clarke, a brilliant teenager, daughter of the medical officer in chief of the Arch. You can also find Wells, the son of the chancellor; Finn and the duo Bellamy and Octavia whose brotherhood always pushed them beyond the law.
Deprived from communication from earth, the arch commandment have to make difficult decision to ensure the perpetuity of mankind. For the 100 survivors, they never knew earth before, it is a foreigner planet. They know nothing about it, a mysterious kingdom that can be beautiful a moment and deadly another. The survival of the human race depend on the 100, and they have to outlast their differences to survive.

The casting is great and well balanced. You won’t see a hollywood star but you will recognize a lot of these actors. Almost each and everyone of them you will think to yourself « hmmmmm I know this guy »!

Eliza Taylor-Cotter aka Clarke Griffin

Eliza is an australian actress, you probably saw her in a few movie, and probably more and more the time being. She had a role in 6 plots, The November Man or Thumper. She is really more renown for now in the V Show industry where she had a dozen of role in many shows. Well we have to notice that she is only 28 years old and has her career in front of her… Be prepared to see a lot more of her. She played in Mission Pirates, the neighbors, and the 100 is her most recent role.
She played the leader of the young people… She does not want to be considered as such but her personality leads her to be. I won’t spoil but this leadership accentuates throughout the episodes…. Nothing much more to say about her, she is a great actress and deserve and will be more and more present in the movie industry for sure. I won’t tell you any cliche about her being beautiful… You just have to open your eyes to notice!

Marie Avgeropoulos alias Octavia the rebel

Marie play the role of Octavia, always hidden from the others on the Space Station because she was a « second » child forbidden. She is used to live in marge of the society, and will soon be attracted more by the willings that her own people.
Marie is a really good actress, her role is tough, she has to show many facet of a complex character. She is from a category of people, the « arch » but she is tore up by her love for an earthling, a wild man.
To begin with she play the drums, and that is why she has been noticed by Chris Colombus (Mrs Doubtfire, Mom, I miss the plane) to play in his movie; I love You, Beth Cooper, in order to play a drum player.
Then she play in various movie and TV Show such as Cult or The Inbetweeners, but her real first and big role in a TV Show is in The 100.

Bob Morley, the Octavia’s brother, Bellamy

Oh you will hate him….then you will love the character, then hate him again, then like him then not…. and jeez stop turning your jacket in this Show dude!
Bob Morley is the kind of person that you say, « I know him » but his resume is not that impressive… And that is a shame. I like the actor, his play is right, his play is tough, but good.
His first big role is in The 100, but you will see und subtly more of him in the future.

Richard Harmon or the guy that you will hate so much… John Murphy

Richard is mainly known for his role in Continuum. He is also known for his role of Jasper Ames in The Killing, as well as Ray Snider in Tower Prep. Despite his young age, he has quite a strong experience in the industry. He played in many movies, such as Percy Jackson, Triple dog, Rufus, Forever 16, and much more.
Concerning the TV Show, as said earlier, Continuum was his first hit, shall we say.

In conclusion, The 100 is a teensy adventure, but the world and environment are quite cool. As I said I am not much into this kind of adventures but this one I kind of like it.
Yeah I would recommend a TV show like this, you can go and start to watch it!!!
