Steptoe and Son Christmas Special: The Party (24th December 1973)
Harold has decided to go away this Christmas, spending ten days in sunny Majorca. But when he gets home Albert is busy decorating, and starts telling him about all the things he's bought or orderd ready for the big day. When Harold tells Albert he won't be there, Albert is devastated and pleads with Harold not to go. Eventually Harold caves, saying he's going to spend all his holiday money on the best Christmas the Steptoe's have ever seen. They invite plenty of guests, buy more food and booze than they could all eat in a week, let alone a single day.
But when the big day arrives Albert walks into the front room telling Harold he doesn't feel well, and how he seems to be covered in spots. Harold realises it's chicken pox, and just as the guests arrive he too realises he too is infected. Turning the guests away, Albert and Harold settle in to a Christmas on their own...just like always.
Comic Highlight: Snobs at the travel agents, Albert decorating the outside toilet.
