Is Ray Donovan just an extension of us?

I've watched world events now for decades. A mere drop in the bucket of real historical time, but long enough to know that there are those that hold the vast majority of wealth and power, and they have the power to bend us to their will, through divisive politics, and a very compliant and controlled media. The same "plot" is evident throughout modern history, that which is still available to us.

Those in power will dominate the will of those enslaved to them, and in the process, become DOGS of their universe, becoming immune to empathy for fellow humans, and immune to ethics or any moral code. We, not among them, become mere slaves to be raped and starved and used, while they drink our blood believing themselves to be immortal. It's all been written in biblical scripture. Whether or not you are religious is beside the point. Just remember that the Bible was written thousands of years ago. It seems nothing really ever changes.

All these thoughts arise in me tonight as I have some what been binging the Ray Donovan series over the past few evenings. Many of our families have been similarly dysfunctional, but to my knowledge, I don't think my father ever murdered anyone to protect our family.

The Ray Donovan character is such a tortured soul, it is difficult to watch him as he stuffs his childhood traumas, and becomes a "fixer" for the elite class, doing whatever it takes, including murder. He thinks he is giving a good life to his wife and children, escaping from the Catholic confines of South Boston culture, all the while he is separate from them, doesn't ever tell any of them the truth about who he is, an alter boy, with an absent and con-man father who ignored the fact that each of his sons were sexually molested by a priest, one that the sons initially trusted but eventually murdered.

When I first watched this series (this is a rewatch) I found it really heart wrenching and difficult to take it all in. The Donovan soul is so lost, it is difficult to bear to watch his unrelenting inability to forgive anyone, especially himself. And he has apparently no qualms about killing, or destroying any other human that threatens him or his family or their purported successful lifestyle.

I wonder, then, do the elites that believe they are in control of billions of us ever feel the emotional torture and unhappiness of Ray Donovan -- a mere microcosmic character representing those that could care less about the rest of us so long as they are protecting their own?

I doubt it. The Ray Donovan character is just as much a pawn in the script as the rest of us. He just lived a more dangerous expression of it. He sold his soul because of resentment and hate, somewhat understandable, but not commendable. Haven't seen the last season yet. Wondering if this poor tortured soul might find redemption? Since Hollyweird is in charge, likely doubtful.

We are each here to figure something out, at least that is the way I see it. And our souls do not edie, and we will not forget what we did here. This is all just kindergarten of the soul.

I wish I knew how to help us grow up.
