Some kids tv shows from the early mornings of the 90s

As a kid, I used to get up early and watch TV. Here is a short list of shows I used to watch for the sake of #nostalgia from a UK 90s kid. For some reason, it turns out Channel 4 was my go-to for TV in the mornings!

Sesame Street

The original children's television programme. Channel 4 used to air it at 6am. Still running, the American children's television series was a pioneer of the contemporary educational television standard, combining both education and entertainment.

The Trap Door

Apparently this originally was on CITV, but again I remember it on Channel 4. The show revolved around both the daily lives and the misadventures of a group of monsters living in a castle. Although the emphasis was on humour and the show was marketed as a children's programme, the show drew much from the genres of horror and dark fantasy. Re-watching, it is still quite funny!

The Hoobs

This was another show created and produced by The Jim Henson Company, starring five creatures who fall from space and land on earth and drive around in their crazy vehicle. In each episode they try to find the answer to a question to be put in the great Hoobopaedia created by Hubba Hubba, back in Hoobland

Dr. Zitbag's Transylvania Pet Shop

This was a French cartoon (I never knew!), translated into English and air on ITV in the UK. The show had 5 series. Dr. Zitbag was a Pet Shop worker who wasn't very good at selling any pets at all and because of this he was fired from the local Transylvanian Pet Shop. So he decides to set up his own Pet Shop at an old Haunted Castle and finds out that he will have to share the place with a skeleton dog, Horrifido. With Horrifido now helping him out, the doctor begins use with his inventions to create Horrific Pets to gain his profit.
