TV & Music Show Way Back Challenge

in tvshowwaybackchallenge •  7 years ago  (edited)

My submission for #TVShowWayBackChallenge started by @saffisara . People are remembering their special shows from when they were young.

@enginewitty added the Music Way Back Challenge giving a combination of TV and Music.

The show that comes to mind is “The Ed Sullivan Show” where he hosted a variety of singers, dancers, comedians and all around good laughs. I remember he always pronounced ‘Show’ as ‘Shoe.’ His show was my opportunity to see what other teenagers were crushing on.

One Of Elvis Presley’s Famous Moves

The first time I saw Elvis or The Beatles was sitting in my parents living room watching the Ed Sullivan Show. Except for the news channel most shows came from the U.S.A.

The Ed Sullivan Show ran for 23 years from 1948 to 1971 - a record as the longest-running variety show in US broadcast history.

Ed Sullivan had vowed never to have Elvis on his show but decided later to pay $50,000.00 (unheard of amount to pay an entertainer in those days) for a few appearances when he saw how popular the singer was with the swaying hips and all.

Songs from when The Beatles were on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Thanks for stopping by @bimboola42. Music does unite people. 😊

I have not heard of the Ed Sullivan show but it looks like it was a big hit if it ran for that long - the Beatles on the other hand - great choice who doesn't love their music.

Thanks Rob. Appreciate the resteem. There wasn’t much to view on TV as my parent’s TV only had 2 (snowy) channels. 😊 The Ed Sullivan Show was about the only thing worth watching on a Sunday evening.

Ive seen both of those long ago. Insane amount thats like 500 million today

Ed Sullivan could have got Elvis for 5 thousand at one time but he didn’t want him then . He said he wasn’t his cup of tea but changed his mind when he saw how famous he was becoming. Then there was all the controversy raised by parents about the way Elvis 🕺 gyrated. Nothing compared to what is displayed on stage today.😂
