The prompt for this poem was: A small canoe tied to a pier, bobbing in the water under almost stormy skies.

Winter's Approach

Autumn is almost done
Leaves are scattering in the breeze
The days are shortening
And soon will come the freeze

Clouds are racing by
Distorting the suns rays
An ever changing picture
Of whites, blues and greys

The canoe almost forgotten
Tied to the abandoned pier
But ready for one more paddle
Before retiring till next year
