The origin of a new beverage. 24 hour short story

This my entry for @mctiller’s The 24-hour short story challenge

I couldn't find an image to fit my story so I decided to draw it myself

The tired grandfather waited for the little boy to finish his hot cocoa before leaving the room.

But the kid, seeing that his grandfather was rising, asked:

"Grandpa, could you tell me who invented hot chocolate with marshmallows?"

"Only if you promise you'll fall asleep after the story is over," replied Grandpa.

"I promise," said the boy

The grandfather took a chair and approached the bed, heavily sat on it, and began to tell his story:

It was the year of 1720, by then the King of France was Louis XV, the beloved, as they told him. He had asked his chef, who was nicknamed the Royal Chef, whose name was Françoise, a unique dessert for Christmas, that year.

In his attempt to please the king, he decided to create a gingerbread in the shape of a little man, with small arms and legs, as your mother does.

He put all his heart and knowledge into making the best of the desserts, it was already very dark when he finished baking the gingerbread men, so he decided to go to sleep. By the next morning, he would be sure it would please the king.

What he didn't know was that when there was no one in the kitchen, one of those little men came alive and got up. He took a candy cane and went to the other desserts

"Hey everyone!" Shouted the little man

"Now I am the king of desserts!"

The jello trembled with fear, "hahaha" the child laughed while his grandfather tickled his tummy.

"What's wrong?" The cupcakes asked

"Another one who thinks he's special," the panettone answered in his deep voice.

Rotating the candy cane around her body, like a Shaolin monk.

"I know martial arts too," added the gingerbread man.

"They will eat you just like everyone else," cinnamon roles said without caring about.

In the morning, the little man had hidden himself to avoid being eaten. Françoise, took the dessert trays and served them to the king.

The king was thrilled to see such splendid works of art, congratulated the chef. However, the flavor of the little men was very similar to the previous ginger candies that he used to prepare. So again, the king ordered Françoise to make a totally different dessert for the next day.

Françoise would strive to make a new dessert that would surprise the king.

By then, he had sent to bring from the colonies of America, a strange seed called cocoa, with which they prepared an excellent blending called chocolate. Françoise had visited these colonies and had seen how the natives cooked the drink. The drink would give the magic touch to the creation of his new dessert.

After a lot of work, he was finally able to make the perfect mass to create a dessert that he would call marshmallow and to give it a presentation according to the festive dates, he decided to give it a snowman shape.

Satisfied with his creation, he decided to go to rest.

To the surprise of all the desserts, one of the snowmen shouted

"Hey everyone! I am the king of desserts! "

"This one also thinks he's special," the panettone replied in his deep voice again.

"You're wrong!" Shouted the little gingerbread man in the distance

"I'm still the king of desserts!"

"Do not say nonsense, we are 12 and you are just one"

Each of the snowmen had a cinnamon stick in a threatening way.

"You're wrong! Freedom! "And with that last scream, 7 gingerbread men woke up from the tray that had been left over from the previous dinner.

Each one took a candy cane and running after the first gingerbread man, they started an epic battle that nobody ever had the honor to witness.

It was a massacre! Rich, juicy pieces of ginger flew everywhere, as did drops of marshmallow raining everywhere.

In the end, there were only four snowmen left and the original gingerbread man.

"Catch him!" Shouted the snowman

But the little man ran to them and, leaning on his candy cane, he passed over them and fell into a casserole.

"Let's go against him! He has been trapped in the big saucepan," shouted the snowman again.

When they all entered the saucepan, the little ginger man jumped and, using the candy cane, latched onto the handle of the hot chocolate cooking pot. With a strong impulse, he made the pot pour over all the marshmallow men, which dissolved them into small pieces of marshmallows, which floated over the hot chocolate.

The other desserts applauded the audacity of the gingerbread man, who raised his cane in victory.

The next morning, surprised by the disaster created by the battle. Françoise angry was about to pour the contents of the pot into the sink, but seeing that he didn't have enough time to create more snowmen, decided to serve the drink accompanied by the pieces of marshmallow.

To Françoise's surprise, the king was delighted with the drink.

And that's how a little gingerbread man created the delicious drink you just had.

The boy looked at him incredulously, but with a mischievous smile.

"Go to sleep, tomorrow I'll tell you how it was invented the cootie catcher," he laughed heartily and left the room.

Don't put ideas on my mind

Oh but they're nice ideas. Lol.

I know, Lucy!

Hey @jadams2k18, is this a tradition story or you create it yourself? It very interesting and sure love by all the kids as a bedtime story. This story of yours inside a story. Very creative of you to deliver the story.

Thank you @oliviackl.

I created myself. When I was little, my father used to take me and my sister to my uncle's place, far from where we lived. And my uncle, at night, used to invent some stories, entertaining stories but clearly not real and highly-colored. So, I imagined how my uncle would tell us this kind of story

You come from story teller family @jadams2k18. You inherited your uncle‘s talent. Your story telling i thought was real, this is how good you are. Parent should start to keep your story as a bedtime story. Any plan write another one?

I hadn't seen it from that point of view. Thank you for telling me

Well, there is another story (a very long one) that goes around in my mind. But I haven't written it down yet.

Thanks for your comments, I've really appreciated them

Are you plan to write that long story of yours? You can write it in few chapters. I don't mind follow it through few weeks hehe 😝

That could be a great idea! Write it in chapters. I'll think about it

✌Let's do it so i have a chance to read 😊

As soon as I write my first chapter I will let you know

Hello @ jadams2k18, I loved your story. It is very fresh and stimulates good imagination. I read it to my nephew and he loved it and he also tells me that this story should have a second part and more.

Thank you very much for your kinds words.

A second part? Like another story from the grandpa?

Yes, something like that sounds funny. I at least surely read it with interest. Greetings @jadams2k18

Pero no el origen del saca piojos! jajajjajajaj (Not the origin of cootie catcher, hahahaha)

jajaja no por favor

That is a very cute and imaginative story that you have come up with. What a nice and sweet story to share with children during bed time.

I applaud your effort to draw the photo for your own story. Others may just find something "near but not really near" photo from the internet. 😊

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I thought it was better to draw the last scene

You're not only a good storyteller but also an artist in drawing. Maybe you should also draw more and post them here. 😊

I used to draw and post the adventures of Pinky and Spiky from @organduo and @laputis, but I have not had the time to dedicate myself nowadays

It looks like you're fond of children stuff. It will be good to have that something little different on Steemit.

Sometimes I feel like a child

Me too. Sometimes it feels good to bring out the child in us, the innocent and happy heart. 😊

You are very right

This must be the best grandpa in the world! This story is so beautiful. I love the gingerbread man king and the marshmallow snowman king :) They apparently didn't get that they would be eaten anyway (like they were told by other desserts). I also like how you created a fight between them :) Must have been a sweet fight!

Now I feel like having hot chocolate with marshmallows :)

Thank you for sharing! It's a lovely story and your writing skills are TOP!

I'm very glad you enjoyed the story

(like they were told by other desserts)

There were some resigned to be eaten. But not our brave little gingerbread man.

And I'm dying to drink some hot chocolate with marshmallows too

Thanks for passing by ...

Cheers to the hot chocolate with marshmallows!

Happy Holidays :)

Happy Holidays!!!
