Female Streamers!

Lets jump in the shit!
This morning I woke up to a social media dumpster fire. Apparently it was all in response to some guy going on a rant about "titty streamers". Basically it was a long barely comprehensible troll fest of slut shaming and some kind of "no girls allowed" bullshit, because he was picked on and rejected in school. Apparently Twitch is "ran by the same sluts who used to reject us!" I'm likely a little late to the vomit fest, but I still would like to respond.
I am ashamed of you internet. Not only have you not learned from years of being trolled, but many trying to refute the guy also practiced sexism and slut shaming. When trying to refute an asshole for being sexist, try not to be sexist as well. It distracts people that are more qualified at refuting the person.
Although I say he's trolling, I doubt that he isn't at the very least more than a bit sexist, and likely believes quite a bit of what he's saying. I personally don't think it would be easy to go into such a tirade without believing it at least a little bit. Of course, politicians could likely refute that, as their entire job is often making speeches on things they don't actually believe in.
Tweet including a clip of the stream
Go and watch the video, then scroll down a bit to the second clip, and watch that as well.
First of all, to me, it's obvious that he thinks he's pandering to some portion of his audience, same as some hate mongers on talk radio. If it's not immediately apparent that he's being overly dramatic, you were likely too distracted by his hate speech. He likely believes that a number of those watching him are the rejected masses that can identify with what he's saying, and will get pissed at some "titty streamers" using their feminine whiles to entice men, and invade their safe space! He's probably right, but he went so far over and above that he got banned, and then social media proceeded to shame him. Ironically, I think this might have gone better if he had stood at a podium in front of flags, in a military dress uniform, with sound effects of crowds blaring.
The whole boys club mentality is just plain wrong. Twitch was never a boys club. It's not even for just the nerds. It never has been. Games are mainstream. There are tons of female gamers. Also, many female gamers have boobs. Streamers can and will do whatever they want to and can do to gain an audience, and get tips, as long as it doesn't break Twitch's rules, or at least isn't likely to be enforced. It's an entertainment based streaming platform, where they can make money! Of course they're gonna do whatever they have to to try to get some money! If a streamer decides to use the fact that a number of users are enticed by them to make a bit more money, so what? Why do you have such a big problem with it? Traditional media has been arguing for years that companies should be allowed to poison us all for profit, without any fines, and yet you wanna argue about some titties?
You can argue all you want about what Twitch's rules should be, or their enforcement of them, but this is not how to do it. The streamer was lewd, hateful, sexist, gross, etc. The people that have responded to him, whether they agree or not, have often shown sexism as well. When you start acting sexist and slut shaming, you ruin your argument, and prove what it is that you really have a problem with. Movies about girls in bikinis fighting aliens or zombies don't take anything from the great works of art that have been made, or the common crap that comes out every year. That's what this guy is. This guy is a blockbuster turd that's throwing a hissy fit because a form of entertainment that he doesn't respect is getting more viewers, and somehow didn't get a restricted rating.
If you want a streaming site that strictly enforces dress code and social behavior to live up to whatever ideal that you have in your head, go ahead and argue for it, logically and cordially, or go raise the money to start your own platform that lives up to your ideals. I guarantee that a site that puts up with the fore mentioned hate speech is not the same site as one that would have "moral" guidelines on "proper" stream behavior, unless it was overtly sexist, and didn't enforce the rules equally, just as some argue Twitch doesn't.

I personally don't support strict rules against sexual behavior. I don't support having a dress code, period. I can understand if you want to have your own corner of the internet with certain rules for behavior though, and I can understand wanting rules to be equally enforced. When you break the rules to argue for them being enforced though, that makes no sense. When you commit obvious social taboos when you're making your argument as well, no one's going to listen to you. In fact, the conversation is going to very quickly turn to how you are a horrible person.
Whatever your personal views are, please try to be respectful of people, and inclusive. Don't shame people for who they are or what their sexuality is. If you have an argument, try to form it intelligently if you can, and don't be derisive.
Try to stay sane.
