Twitter attributed a brief disappearance of President Trump's personal Twitter account on Thursday night to "human error" on the part of one of its employees.

"Earlier today @realdonaldtrump's account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee," Twitter said in a statement posted to the platform.

"The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again," Twitter added.

A couple hours later, Twitter said that the employee's actions occurred on their last day at the company, indicating that it was still investigating the situation.
Social media users erupted in confusion earlier Thursday evening when the president's infamous personal account went dark, displaying the generic message of "sorry, that page doesn't exist!"

Trump regularly uses his Twitter account to weigh in on current events and often makes news on the platform while jabbing at critics.
