Twitter fails to deliver on hopes of ‘Trump bump’

Despite US President Donald Trump utilizes Twitter as his main communication tool Twitter continues to struggle to monetize their platform. There had been some hope that the renewed interest would help boost the company's results, but Twitter's losses deepened instead. Its net loss grew to $167.1 million from $90.24 million a year prior.

It doesn’t look like Donald Trump is Making Twitter Great Again

Twitter has never been profitable. It bleeds money despite the platform has seen growth in users. The user base increased 4 percent in the fourth quarter to 319 million average monthly active users, according to their latest report.

Twitter can't seem to monetize president Donald Trump's tweets. Maybe Trump should leave Twitter and join Steem. I'm pretty sure we are able to monetize his posts! ;-)

Ouch! Twitter's having troubles, all right. Evidently, bringing in the SJWs via the "Trust and Safety Council" didn't help.

Twitter has never been profitable.

That's not entirely true. They posted a modest profit in 2015.

According to http://financials.morningstar.com/income-statement/is.html?t=TWTR&region=USA&culture=en_US Twitter had a net loss of 521 million USD in 2015 (whole year).

They did have profitable quarters though. The third quarter of 2015 was their first profitable quarter. It is a pedantic point of course.

Yes, you're right! :-)

Twitter can't seem to monetize

Steem is in the same boat. The difference is over capitalization. Twitter was pumped to the moon, Steem is $40M.

Perhaps the best mindset is to consider social media apps as a #publicutility, not as profit generating juggernauts of tomorrow.

More and more, Twitter is being seen as not as a place for true communication, but as a place to yell at each other. There's no value in that and the market recognizes this. I hope everyone on Steem sees Twitter as a cautionary tale.

Imagine if Trump switched to steemit...
