A two sided story part 5 @Kathieletalis

Domina glacies et Mortis Letalis, had just returned to Castle Letalis after accepting her own outpost assignment. For the first time in a millennium she would not be living under her mother Darla's roof, but be responsible for her new home the Villa. She had been overseeing the complex renovation of the old abandoned outpost, meeting with many village elders and carefully introducing herself as the Regent 's choice to oversee and protect the Eastern valley. Tonight she returned as she sensed her mother's unease with the recent village uprising. Domina had just finished dressing for dinner when there was a knock at the door. The maid told her a woman was in trouble down in the village. A difficult delivery, could she go and help as the sun was still up and no one else could go. Domina was rather unique among her many siblings, not only was she a fierce warrior, she was a healer and a day walker. "Of course, let me grab my bag and I'll head straight down. Just let mother know why I may be late to dinner." The young maid nodded and left. Domina retrieved her bag from the wardrobe and met the carriage at the front door.
As the carriage stopped in the village square, Domina took note of several groups of men gathered by the Pub. She could see that many were not from the area by their attire. She sensed a lot of rage and fear. "Strange! This village has always been peaceful and calm. Wonder who stirred up trouble?" she asked the young man who drove her down from the castle. "Not sure mam, just be careful and come back straight away when you're done, don't want to be here after dark." he answered. Taking her bag after climbing down, she nodded and headed to the home where she was needed. A breechling delivery, she carefully repositioned the boy and coached the mother through delivery. Laying the healthy baby in his mother's arms, she cleaned up and returned to the caryat dusk. Climbing up into the carriage, she noted more men had gathered and there was empty liquor bottle strewn around. "I do not like the looks of this !" the driver said as he slapped the reigns and started out of the village back to the castle. "Neither do I." Domina replied. They raced back up the road , arriving just as the dinner bells rang out summoning all to the great hall for dinner.
