Tyrannosaurus Rex or T-Rex is the Most Famous Dinosaur in the World.

Tyrannosaurus lived at the end of the Age of Dinosaurs, about 68-66 million years ago.

T-Rex was 12m long and weight 7 tonnes. Its head was 1.2m long and had more than 50 dagger-like teeth, some longer than 15cm. The arms and hands of Tyrannosaurus were so small that they couldn't pass food to its mouth, and may have had no use at all. Tyrannosaurus' massive, powerful rear legs contrasted greatly with its puny front limbs or 'arms'. As it ran, its thick based tail balanced its horizontal body and the head, which was held low. The rear feet were enormous, each set of three toes supporting some 3-4 tonnes. Female T-Rexes were bigger than Males

Its full name Tyrannosaurus Rex means 'King of the Tyrant Reptiles'.

T-Rex fossils have been found at many sites in North America, Including Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada, and Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and New Mexico in the USA. Several discoveries have revealed fossilized bones, teeth and whole skeletons. Recent fossil finds of a group of Tyrannosauruses include youngsters, suggesting that they may have lived as families in small herds or packs.

T-Rex may have been an active hunter, pounding along with long strides after its fleeing prey, or it may have been a skulking scavenger that ambushed old and sickly victims.

Until the 1990s, Tyrannosaurus Rex was known as the Biggest Carnivorous Dinosaur, and the The Biggest Carnivorous Animal ever to walk the Earth, but its size record was broken by Giganotosaurus and then Spinosaurus.
