Thort i had some vids on the JagStudio game as well as the v2 of stairway to the catstar
The page on the site :
https://retrofans.janesondergrond.art/JoGstudio/
scroll down to play the original phaser game there , the playlist is next to it ... nothing to prove and it gets no money so no roadmaps , no deadlines
we just kinda HAD TO after finding out there was an actual human-usable IDE for the machine that Ctulhu built
i dont think we would have opened pandoras box otherwise ... its somewhere at the floor of lvl 1 atm, trying to figure out how to format the leveldata b/c bcx basic (which is C made to look like basic which compiles to C which then compiles AS C but in JagStudio its a bit of an adapted interpreter/compiler so its a lot of trial and error to a rank amateur noob lamers skitzo collective but we'll get there)
The idea was to do this first and then probably have enough of the syntax and methods down to do the game we wanted to do which would a shmup the likes of soul force on the c64
(review by Bastich who seems to be a name in youtube64)
b/c yea its probably our fav shmup also in the neo-retro era on the c64 tho i have to say the port of spelunky, if they add a finite set of designed levels gets our personal GOTY for this year (64 that is)
righto ...
JoGstudio ...
oh, well tts : if you're into bedroom coding ... (the previous was a tryout .prg for the random number generator for the c64 game)
this in the video is actually no programming logic included (xept where the little red guy jumps it uses a small lookup table for the y-coordinate)
everything else moving is "simply" (if you can call it that) a list of objects fed in sequence and repeating to the jaguars Object Processor which really does all the drawing, layering and moving there, theres nothing else in the loop
makes one wonder how Atari succeeded in totally flunking the machine b/c it obviously must have had SOME potential
ofcourse ... if devs were like "o but we'll just use this motorola inthere b/c we know that one and ignore the other chips its possible that they didnt really tap it)
right ...
i think the summer's gone
