WOW what a day.
Jon Jones comes out being claimed “clean” and he gets to return just in the knick of time for UFC 230. An event that has drawn a ton of speculation from the MMA community.
Mainly, the theory that Jon Jones will be serving as the main event. Along side him, playing the roll of “major opponent”, can be a selection of a slew of names ranging from Gus to Rumble and Velasquez or Miocic at heavy weight. Who knows right? But damn it’s so much fun to speculate!
My bet is Jones vs Gus 2.
It’s a HUGE fight even still after many years. Even though Gus has seen his ups and (mostly) downs inside the Octagon, Jones has seen plenty of them as well in his personal life. We could argue which is worse.
That’s the awesome thing about MMA and combat sports for that matter, is that in the end there is a winner and a loser. Maybe not definitive and maybe not believable. But there will be a conclusion to this. Whether we decide to accept it or try to disprove its result is on us.
But at least we have that… SPECULATION.
Tomorrow will be the 5 year anniversary of Jones/Gus 1 Sat, Sep 21, 2013.
