Much has been written about the match up so I will focus on two questions which are:
- What is the UFC doing?
- What has happened to TJ?
What is the UFC doing?
The UFC is canning the Flyweight division and after they do this they make the small man Super Fight of the Flyweight title. On the surface it looks like a perk to keep TJ happy by giving him a chance to win two belts. However, the novelty of this is wearing off as this has happened before. Why would they continue to want this when they have seen how it messes up one division.
One the other hand what if Cejudo win? The UFC would probably make the rematch at Bantamweight, but there is a problem here. Henry is saying that his contract if for Flyweight and that he becomes a free agent once the division is gone. He made it clear, in an interview with Ariel Helwani, that he is friends with chatri Sityodtong the CEO of One Championship.
What is wrong with TJ?
Ever since the Alpha Male feud with Cody and Uriah TJ is coming off as a cocky bitter guy. Don't get me wrong I love his fighting style and his skill, but something about him has changed. When you listen to his interviews his body language, and tone, feels bitter. There isn't the joy you see from DC, Conor, or Henry. He comes off like Tyron. TJ, and the UFC, that the fans don't gravitate to the Tyron attitude despite of how good he is.
