I want to give Chris Cyborg her due diligence: she clearly won last night against a very game former world champion Holly Holm. That being said, the mystique around Cyborg running through opponents like a meat grinder has now vanished. Considering Holly had won only 3 of her last 4 fights before getting the call to fight Cyborg at featherweight, the mma community expected nothing less than an absolute mauling.
Instead, it was close. It was only a Cyborg blitz in the final round that swayed the judges in her favor. This underwhelming performance will fuel Amanda Nunes' confidence in a Cyborg match up. Although she has publicly refused to fight Cyborg on more than one occasion, I think the Cyborg Holm fight will change her mind.
Expect a champ vs champ bout at featherweight sometime next year. Cyborg vs Nunes...Make it happen, Dana!
