Nate Diaz just kind of speaks his mind and does whatever he wants without concern about the consequences. I think that is a huge part of his appeal. At his recent UFC event where ended up victorious in his final match on his current UFC contract, he was a bit more humble after his victory than he normally is, but leading up to the fight and during the post-fight interview he was a bit more "Nate-ish."
One of these segments was edited out of the live event but somehow made its way onto Twitter anyway through an anonymous account. Nate could have been involved in this but he wisely didn't want it to be evident it came from him.

In an interview with ESPN Nate was doing the usual street-talk babble that we all love him for when the topic of the new UFC shoes, called "Project Rock" that all fighters are required to wear as part of their individual contracts came up. This is because of a new deal between Under Armor, The UFC, and Dwayne Johnson that these shoes have become somewhat of an official shoe for the UFC which is strange since not many fighters actually wear shoes anymore (there was a time that they did... more on that later.)
Nick didn't waste any time bashing the shoes as he held them up to the camera and said "look at these, these shoes fucking suck! They made me put this shit on, fuck these shoes."
Obviously this is not the image that the UFC is trying to portray about their new footwear partnership but in the end, it could end up having a good effect for the brand awareness. I for one wouldn't even know they existed had it not been for this unauthorized leak of the clip and it has become so widespread that I can't help but feel as though the release was a calculated risk that was released intentionally and with the knowledge of all parties involved.

I suppose they are about the same looking as any other training shoes but for me I simply wouldn't wear them because of the Rock stuff on the back. I aint no Rock fanboi and I would feel embarrassed sporting that logo.
Nick never met a controversy that he didn't like and it is precisely that attitude that lead to him becoming one of the UFC's biggest stars despite having over 10 losses on his resume.
On a darker side of this shoe contract while the companies both claim that the sales of these shoes are meant to benefit fighters, none of the UFC fighters are going to get any sort of compensation out of it. Nate has been very outspoken about how the actual fighters in UFC get very little of the proceeds compared to other sports and perhaps that is why his opinion about them is so strong.
