The year is ending, and many are in preparation for their end-of-year travel as they usher in the new year. Uganda is a leading destination for adventure, eco-tourism, and cultural experiences. The country offers remarkable experiences for family and solo travel that you can consider to be part of this December.
Below are our most recommended ones.
##Jinja White Water rafting
Jinja is located in Eastern Uganda, about a 2-hour drive from Kampala, Uganda's capital city. It is the adventure city of Uganda with the source of the Nile River, the world's longest River. The Nile River at Jinja has rapids as the water flows over hard rocks in its early stages. This, in turn, created the perfect spot for white water rafting. Watersport lovers peddle through the rapids as they journey with the Niles' white waters.
White water rafting is thrilling and among the best Uganda tour adventures, you can be part of. It is open to all and does not require any swimming experience.
##Gorilla Trekking
Mountain gorilla trekking is Uganda's most prominent primate trekking adventure. It is done in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla Park in Southwestern Uganda. Uganda is home to over 550 mountain gorillas with several habituated families open to tourism.
Mountain gorillas have over 95% DNA similar to humans making them among man's closest primates. They live in families led by a dominant male called Silverback. Mountain gorillas are vegetarian and spend most of their day feeding. On a Uganda gorilla tour, you hike and meet these rare primates learning more about them.
Gorilla trekking is remarkable and among the best Uganda wildlife experiences.
##Birding
Uganda is home to over 1,000 bird species. These live in the different ecosystems the country has, ranging from wetlands, open savannas, and forests. Birding is a niche and exclusive tour experience. It is more enjoyable in Uganda where you encounter the country's most sought-after birds, including the shoebill stork.
Notable birds you see on a Uganda birding journey include the Grey-Crowned crane, Rwenzori Turaco, Rwenzori Appalis, Fish Eagles, and Herons. Migratory birds from as far as Europe set in from November to May increasing opportunities for bird viewing.
##Game Drives
Uganda has several open savanna wildlife destinations that offer remarkable safari adventures. The country is home to the Big Five Mammals, Big Cats, and other savanna wildlife species. Notable safari animals you can spot on a game drive include zebras, giraffes, hyenas, and several antelope species.
Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, and Lake Mburo National Parks are the leading savanna wildlife destinations where you can have game drives. These are open to families and people of all ages, unlike gorilla trekking which is limited to individuals above 15 years.
This is the best time to book your Uganda safari ahead of the festive season month.
