WHY WE MAY NOT ACHIEVE MIDDLE INCOME BY 2025(NDP3)!!!!!!!!

ASSESSMENT OF NDP1, NDP2, AND NDP3.

We started off the NDP 2 with an aim of propelling uganda to amiddle income status by 2020 but along the way we seem to have forgoten this main objective,the NDP 2 was also to tackle the failures of the previous NDP 1 which the authories at MFPED and NDA admitted it was atotal failure,the other objectives were to increasing sustainable production and Value addition on agricultural products,enhancing human capital development and increasing the stock and quality of infrastructure,we have had some achievements in the infrastructural sector talk of roads and energy/electricity.
Value addition on agricultural products is completely lacking akg of processed coffee goes btn 5k to 6k about 1.5$ which is far below international coffee prices,how about if we purified our coffee and export coffee products like nestle.
Our population entirely depends on Agriculture but with the continued fall in agricultural prices our poverty levels will continue to go high above the MDG achievement of 19.7% BY 2015.
The high interest rates in the commercial banks are also amajor deterance to the development of the country,world over in developed countries interest rates have to be below the economic growth rates for acountry to sustain high levels of economic growth acase in point is America whose interest rates average 2% with aGDP growth of 2% and britain with 0% interest rate.ugandas interest rate average 24% which is five times higher than our GDP growth this means that all our economic gains are taken by the higher interest rates.
The leading economic indicator will average between 0.47 and 0.48 due to the tough economic situations.we need avast financial inclusion through establishment of development and coperative banks with low interest rates if uganda is to atain middle income status.
We also need to address the succession question,acountry whose political destiny is unclear can only attract porpcorn investors but not potential investors with strong FDIs.this explains why potential investors have stoped in our neighbouring countries like kenya and Tanzania and then export manufactured goods to uganda this has taken many of jobs and other benefit.
