The British government signed an agreement to sell 24 fighter jets for Qatar on Monday (18/9).
The purchase agreement for Typhoon aircraft was signed by Qatar Defense Minister Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah with British Defense Minister Michael Fallon in the capital Doha. Through the provision therein, in addition to purchasing fighter jets, the two countries agreed to strengthen military cooperation.
"After several years of negotiations, I am very happy to have signed an agreement to buy 24 Typhoon aircraft by Qatar," said Fallon.
This agreement is also regarded as the largest export agreement between the two countries within a decade. For the British, this also makes profits up to billions of pounds and welfare of thousands of industrial aircraft workers.
In terms of military cooperation, the two countries agreed to deepen cooperation to combat terrorism and violent extremism. Both Qatar and Britain stressed the importance of strengthening security, peace and stability throughout the region of cooperation, among them in the Middle East region.
