So Prince Harry's spokesperson released a statement that Harry and Meghan were involved in a "near catastrophic" car chase in New York City that was caused by "highly aggressive paparazzi".
They claimed that the "relentless pursuit" lasted more than two hours and "resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD (New York Police Department) officers".
The first thing people thought of when they read about a "near catastrophic" car chase, was the way Princess Diana died.
Except the NYPD are disputing the story. There were paps on foot and on bicycle, who milled around at traffic lights, but no collisions, incidents or arrests.
The Washington Post located their taxi driver, who confirmed there was no car chase, instead they got stuck behind a garbage truck - typical for gridlocked New York.
It wasn't the press that made this into a story, it was Prince Harry and his spokesman who did that.
If this was a publicity stunt based on Diana's death - well that's disturbing.
