The new Labour government was elected on just 33.7% of the vote. Some people thought they'd bring mortgage rates down. Instead Starmer interpreted it as a vote for unlimited migration.

The Illegal Migration Act, passed by Rishi Sunak's government, said that anyone arriving by boat or lorry after March 2023 would be automatically refused asylum. Starmer's Labour govt has amended it to say they are all eligible to stay.

In addition, he has scrapped the Rwanda scheme where those refused asylum would be sent.

Rishi's Rwanda scheme was keeping public disorder at bay - it was popular and people hoped it would work.

Just four weeks into the new Labour govt, the scheme has been scrapped and rioting has broken out. And the rioting has happened in traditional Labour areas.
