The second round of the Tory leadership contest

in uk •  4 months ago

Here is how Tory MPs voted:

Robert Jenrick - 33 (+5)
Kemi Badenoch - 28 (+6)
Tom Tugendhat - 21 (+4)
James Cleverly - 21 (-)
Mel Stride - 16 (-)

Mel Stride has been eliminated.

The vote shares are interesting; two of Priti Patel's backers switched to James Cleverly after Patel got eliminated last week.

But James Cleverly's tally didn't budge. I suspect his team lent votes to Tugendhat to ensure Stride got eliminated. (Last week there was only 1 vote separating Tugendhat and Stride).

Where will Stride's votes go? Possibly to Cleverly.
