Chalk Cliff Sunset
This photograph was taken at Birling Gap in Sussex last year.
This year it would not be possible to take the same picture as the steps down to the beach have been closed off due to cliff falls.
The whole area was closed for one day a few weeks ago while the Coast Guard rescue helicopter, police, Life Boat Service and Fire and Rescue Service all searched the area to make sure there were no caualities from the cliff fall.
It was caused by the long dry period, followed by a few days of rain and then another long dry period.
Cliff falls are common along this particular bit of the coast but this one was especially severe.

This must be a lovely place. I like the colors of the stones on the beach and the stones of the cliff.
And those cliff falls are spectacular; just found a short video that shows the actual fall.
I'm sure I wouldn't want to walk there when such a fall happens!!

It is not recommended to walk under the cliffs at any time. It's a very interesting beach though. it's always different when you visit. 😊

@gillianpearce, It is a pity that they are a little destroyed. Beautiful scenery in this place. These chalk cliffs give a special look to this coast. You seem to have already shown some of the scenery of these places? I then also liked these watercolor landscapes. Very beautiful sky :)
