Theresa May backflipped on her earlier promise and has called for snap General election, scheduled for the 8th of June. Labour is not a strong contender in the polls, as it suffers from internal division and has been intensely criticised as having a lacklustre campaign against Brexit. In contrast, the Liberal Democrats have been vocal in their continued opposition to Brexit. They are currently campaigning on "Vote Liberal Democrat in the General Election to stop a hard Brexit." Though they suffered a devastating loss in 2015, reducing it from 57 MPs to eight, they have been making in-roads at council elections since then and have been preparing for a snap election. Pundits believe the general election could mark the return of the Liberal Democrats, will they correctly predict the mood of the British people this time?
